Latin Vox

Vancouver's Latin Community Comes Together
ONE NIGHT ONLY with LATIN VOX

LATIN VOX is a world music show that brings the romantic languages to the forefront. Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and French are showcased by Canadian vocalists Alida and Jandreett with special guests.

Alida is an Italian-Canadian singer/songwriter/ recording artist. Singing and playing piano at a very young age, she is a graduate from UBC's School of Music. Alida released her debut album Primo in 2004. For LATIN VOX, Alida takes the audience in a musical journey that influenced her life; from her Canadian English up bringing to her roots, we will mambo to Italy and back, samba our way through Brazil and salsa like a hot pimento.

Jandreett is a Mexican performer who relocated to Vancouver in 2003. She trained in opera with Emily Israel in Mexico and is now in pre-production of a full-length album with her band, The Tryptich. Jandrett gives the audience a taste of Portuguese before serenading the moon in Spanish and French. With guest performers we will dance our way through tango while clicking the heels with flamenco.
Backed up by seasoned musicians and emerging artists, the show's concept and direction comes from award-winning Terry Costa.

Guests include Karen and Poema Flamenco, Salsa dancer Alberto Gonzalez, the duo from Portal a Tango and Spanish ballads from Alex Alegria with his guitar.
