From Ontario to British Columbia

In 1997, in the 'sleepy city' of Mississauga Ontario, Terry Costa founded the first independent/alternative theatre company for the city, UNI Theatre. Five years later, when Costa decided to move to other challenges, the city boosted half a dozen theatre companies, many of them founded by UNI Theatre artists. During the five years in Mississauga, Costa worked with many artists, the company ran workshops, festivals and produced 12 works for the stage. From original material to Canada's premiere of Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange, from a summer-long Shakespearean extravaganza to an international tour. +More Info

In 2002, with his move to Vancouver, Canada's most beautiful city, a new company was born, AQT Vancouver. Back to grass-roots mentality, Costa worked with many artists in development of work instead of production and the company also ran an international writing contest that saw winners experience their work in many different forms. Also, this company had a focus to explore themes relating to the 'queer' world. +More Info
